Since all of us are mature enough to relate the things, I thought to write one analogy.
Before doing so, lets frame some of the people in IT industry according to their tasks
1- Software engineers - They are the ones who are actually working, hours and hours, with headache, backache, and still maintain to be soft spoken, to add to it, they are always financially broken. They are the ones who make the projects work, on their lean shoulders with their programming boulders. They code miles long lines of code, which can explode anytime(as a flat tyre on highway). This is somewhat similar to the tyres of vehicles ,getting rubbed against the friction of road, always revolving, but still get the nothing.Occasionally ,when they get angry and explode, they may get attention for some wash or a puncture repair ( similar to some small bonuses in a company)
2. GLs ( or group leaders ) - Leaders are some way between the management and developers(programmers). They should know, whom to use when, to whom to send the mails, where to organise outdoor events.Qualities which can increase a GLs contacts can be a group smoke, and to laugh without a joke.Their condition is like a lady stuck in a highly crowded train between bad people. They are similar to the hired drivers, they need to take the vehicle to the target, taking care that the tyres and engine of the vehicle do not give up, before they reach target. For this sometimes, he can ask for peanuts for types repair, engine oil etc.
3. Managers - Managers like to be on top, doesnt matter on whose top.It can be the software engineers, GLs, or the project. They ask the status as many number of times, like a frustrated single guy asking status of girls, to find a single girl..Presently, they devised some policy name "TOC" which programmers intrepret as "Totally out of control".They are sitting on the top of the projects, and increasing the weight(budget and pressure) of projects being lifted by programmers(tyres).
These definitions fit the scenario which is IndeedTransportation industry.
