As per the statistics, the word SHIT is used much more frequently, then it is actually done.But I am sure that only a few among us know the ORIGIN of this word.
SHIT is a widely and daily used word.There is a REAL story, for the genesis of this word.
In the 1800's, cow pie's were collected and boxed and loaded on steam ships to burn instead of wood.Wood was difficult to find and heavy for transport.
As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles , methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern. There were blasts..BOOOOM!
Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was discovered what was happening.
After that, the bundles of cow pies where always stamped with the term "S.H.I.T" on them which meant to the sailors to "Ship High In Transit." In other words, high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.
Also when they were kept for long time, they were smelling bad.When people came aboard the ship and said,"Oh what is that smell!" They were told it was S.H.I.T.
